June 16, 2025 – Cainiao, a global leader in smart logistics, has recently announced the full integration of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology at its Hong Kong eHub, making it the firstfreight center in Hong Kong to achieve comprehensive RFID coverage. With RFID technology incorporated throughout all stages of operations—ranging from unloading and security checks to storage, palletization, and outbound shipping—the Cainiao Hong Kong eHub can process packages with approximately 30% greater efficiency compared to traditionalfreight centers.

This RFID technology provides each cross-border package with a “digital ID.” From the moment cargo is unloaded from vehicles, it is automatically identified without any manual intervention. As items move throughout the warehouse, strategically placed RFID readers quickly and automatically recognize their digital IDs, updating their current location and status in real time. This significantly enhances warehouse transparency and inventory turnover, allowing for unified and efficient online management.

The automated storage process can achieve precise location tracking in as little as one minute, replacing manual PDA scanning with advanced automatic reading technology. Additionally, cargo owners can access real-time updates on their shipments through API integration, with data accuracy rates improved to 99.5%. Thanks to RFID technology, the Cainiao Hong Kong eHub maintains efficient operations even during peak e-commerce periods.

Beyond RFID, the Hong Kong eHub is equipped with other cutting-edge Cainiao smart logistics technologies and equipment, including autonomous mobile robots (AGVs) and a sophisticated Material Handling System (MHS) for air cargo. This enables a comprehensive visibility system where every cross-border package can be tracked, monitored, and managed effectively.

Conveniently located just a five-minute drive from Hong Kong International Airport, the eHub provides a four-hour air service radius that covers key markets in the Asia-Pacific region, meeting the demand for high-speed delivery with a “72-hour delivery” promise. By leveraging advanced smart logistics technology, Cainiao has synchronized package and flight information with the Liège eHub in Europe, ensuring a seamless global connection. The process from Liège Airport to the overseas warehouse can be completed in as little as six hours, further enhancing operational efficiency.

Currently, the Cainiao cross-border logistics network spans over 200 countries and regions worldwide, with 18 overseas distribution centers and more than 3 million square meters of cross-border logistics warehousing.
